When is the landfill open? Do I need to make an appointment?

No appointment is necessary. The landfill is open Monday through Friday from 7am to 5pm, Saturday from 7am to 1pm, closed on Sunday.

The Twin Oaks Landfill is closed in observance of the following holidays:

Who can bring trash to the landfill?

Twin Oaks Landfill is a public facility serving the Brazos Valley and surrounding counties. There are no residency or commercial restrictions to use our landfill.

How much does it cost to bring trash to Twin Oaks Landfill? What methods of payment are accepted?

Twin Oaks landfill accepts all major credit cards, cash, and checks. Please click here to view our rates, special fees and conditions.

What materials does Twin Oaks Landfill accept/not accept for disposal?

The Twin Oaks Landfill is a Type 1 facility and accepts Municipal solid waste. MSW consists of everyday items such as product packaging, yard trimmings, furniture, clothing, bottles and cans, food, newspapers, appliances, electronics, and batteries.

The following special wastes are accepted; dead animals, non-friable asbestos-containing material, sludge, grit, grease, contaminated soils, food.

Prior authorization/approval is required before special waste can be accepted (except for dead animals). Scale attendants must be notified when entering the facility with special waste. For additional information regarding special waste acceptance, contact [email protected].

I am unable to attend the HHW collection event. How do I dispose of my household hazardous waste?

In October and April of each year, Twin Oaks Landfill hosts a Household Hazardous Waste collection event at the Texas A&M University Services Building. If you are unable to attend, there are several other ways to safely dispose of your waste. For paint related materials, pick up a complimentary waste hardener from Twin Oaks Landfill. For medications, stop by a disposal kiosk at one of your local pharmacies. More details on proper disposal can be found under the “Household Hazardous Waste” tab on the Twin Oaks Landfill website.

Does the landfill recycle?

No, however, residents can visit our onsite Oil Recycling Center to dispose of motor-oil, cooking oil, antifreeze, and oil filters.

Do I have to tarp my load?

Yes. All vehicles must be properly covered and secured before entering the facility. Proper covering materials include tarps or nets, and proper tie-downs include bungee cords, ratchet ties, heavy-duty zip-ties, s-hook systems, chains, threaded cords or rope. Inadequately secured loads may be assessed an additional fee of $30.

A secured load is defined as follows:

  • Waste material is completely covered with a tarp, cargo net, wire screen or other covering adequate to prevent the trash or other refuse from escaping therefrom, and said covering shall be securely tied to the bed of the vehicle or trailer, or
  • Large waste material items must be securely tied to the bed of the vehicle or trailer with ropes or straps adequate to prevent the large items from escaping therefrom, or
  • Brush or tree limbs must be securely tied to the bed of the vehicle or trailer with ropes or straps of adequate strength and number, or covered completely with a tarp, cargo net, wire screen or other covering adequate to prevent the trash or other refuse from escaping therefrom, or
  • The waste material is completely enclosed by the load-carrying compartment of the vehicle

Are safety vests and hard hats required?

No, but we highly encourage wearing clothing with high visibility features like reflective tape or fluorescent colors.

Can I take materials from the landfill?

No. Scavenging or removing items from the landfill is prohibited.
